Robin’s Answer

Being a counselor can be an emotionally exhausting career. While it can also be very rewarding, it can also lead to burn out. Depending on the specialty, there is the possibility to work with violent clients. While there are tactics to use in difficult situations, you should be aware that other careers may not have the same likelihood of encountering that type of situation.

Meley’s Answer

Being a counsellor can be one of the most rewarding fields , since you'll be taking on a lot of heavy situations from your clients, you need to create boundaries as well as self care routine. It's important that you take self care very seriously so you won't burn out. If you have those safety measures in place, you will enjoy counselling for many years to come.

Meley recommends the following next steps:

research what self care means and what routine works best for you
