lynch’s Answer

Per my understanding, an information research scientist needs to do following:

  1. Deal with a lot of numbers, statistics.
  2. Process those data and find the relevance from the numbers to a topic, or a trend.
  3. Publish a report regarding your research.

So at least an information research scientist need to

  1. Be able to communicate with people.
  2. Be able to concertrate on the research.
  3. Be able to connect the number to a topic.

Obviously, you need to be at ease when it comes to using computers ^^. But more seriously you also need to be creative as you will have to solve complex problems on a regular basis.
