Obviously, you need to be at ease when it comes to using computers ^^. But more seriously you also need to be creative as you will have to solve complex problems on a regular basis.

Per my understanding, an information research scientist needs to do following:
- Deal with a lot of numbers, statistics.
- Process those data and find the relevance from the numbers to a topic, or a trend.
- Publish a report regarding your research.
So at least an information research scientist need to
- Be able to communicate with people.
- Be able to concertrate on the research.
- Be able to connect the number to a topic.
