Could you tell me more with what you are interested in? Are you interested in manufacturing, design, or management? Are you interested in the mechanical side of things or the electrical side?

Thank you comment icon I am sorry for the late replay. I would like to welcome you to automotive engineering :) The automotive industry is such an exciting industry. There is a lot happening around and it flourishing at the moment. First, let us talk about your career path. Because you are interested in the mechanical side of things you could either apply to become a mechanical engineer or an automotive engineer. For example, I did my BS in mechanical engineering and my MS in automotive engineering. This way I kept my options open though my mechanical engineering degree and had the specific education for the automotive industry. Wael Al-Rihawi
Thank you comment icon Second, what can you do now to prepare for your future? ... MATH MATH MATH ... Take as many math courses before you graduate highschool. You are going to need a lot of physics too. Keep an eye on english also because you are going to be writing reports in school and at work. On your free time, I suggest you to enjoy R/C vehicles. They would teach you about vehicle dynamics and propulsion. Fixing vehicles would help you a lot also. If anyone of your family does that join him/her. Wael Al-Rihawi
Thank you comment icon You could also enjoy CAD programs. You can download a student version of SolidWorks for about $100/yr and I think CATIA is for free! I designed an inlet manifold for my racing vehicle on SolidWorks. The design was 3D printed and the engine started with it. It is the white part in the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTxrqcntR0s Wael Al-Rihawi
Thank you comment icon Lastly, try to keep in touch with the industry. I have several websites that check DAILY for industry news. The links for these websites are below. http://www.autoblog.com/ http://jalopnik.com/ http://www.autoline.tv/ I hope you the best with your venture. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate asking them. Wael Al-Rihawi

Hello, since you're still in 10th grade, it's a little too early to be able get access to automotive design tools. However, from a preparation stand point towards the career path of automotive hardware design, I'll recommend the following -
1) Choose math, physics and design classes as much as possible - the basics will go a long way.
2) You'll find tons of videos in Youtube on automotive mechanical design - watch them as it'll give you some perspective on what this job entails.
3) Once you've reached to 12th grade, try to get into a good engineering school - preferably in Mechanical engineering. Take design/FEA/CFD/CAD related courses.
4)Keep an open mind when applying for jobs - you'll have a lot to choose from!
