People who use poor welding knowledge when they work on features such as in children's play area. I had a neighbor years ago who thought he would give a great thrill to his little boy and his friends. He added an old truck spring to a swing that somehow he welded to a frame. The young ones had lots of fun for a while until the spring came off the frame and fell on a child. tragic happening. If you end up making your living in a welding shop, PLEASE use your head and think of all the consequences if the job is not properly inspected and re-inspected. Good luck. geny h

Common mistakes as new welder would be trying to balance out the different elements of making a weld all at the same time. Learning to weld is just like learning to play an instrument. The more you practice the better you'll be. In welding there are more than a few points that you have to be aware of if you want everything to go smoothly. Those would be things such as travel speed (how fast you're moving along the joint), stick out or distance from the work, torch or rod angle in relation to the work which determines the shape of the molten metal and if your pushing or dragging. And those are just a few.
You have to get comfortable to be able to complete the weld without any jerky or less than smooth movements, then you have how much amperage is appropriate for what you're doing all while being as effective as you can possibly be to get the job done.
You would be doing yourself a service by finding a mentor that doesn't mind you making mistakes because there are a lot to be made in the beginning so don't lose sight of what you're trying to accomplish and it will happen sooner than you think.
