Like others have said the salary range is very wide and is heavily dependent on company/industry (google vs small company), region (silicon valley vs rural america) and years of experience (straight out of college vs person with years of experience at google).

Other than the sites mentioned already, which are excellent resources, you can also use https://www.glassdoor.ca/index.htm. That site also has reviews on companies, which also helps in answering the question is the salary going to be worth joining the company

That's a great question! Computer Programming is a very broad field and covers multiples areas. In your day to day life, you are surrounded by code, from the phone you use, to the laptop you use for work/school as well as the traffic lights on your commute. This is an amazing time to get into the field. Median salaries now are starting at around $100,000/year.

I hope this answers your question, feel free to leave a comment with any follow up questions.

as other already said, it really depends. I would recommend you look at glassdoor (you can google it) which give good information how companies pay their engineers.

Nir’s Answer

Like any career it depends on where you are and what company you work for but generally computer programers make a lot of money per hour. The big tech companies pay their senior engineers very well, 100,000-200,000 can be expected there. Smaller companies might pay closer to 65,000 but that's still great pay compared to most work.
