How many years of college do you need to be an architect?

I like drawing and building and I want to be an architect. I want to use environmental skills in architecture. I'd also love to know how much this type of education might cost. #architect #architecture #education #college

Thank you comment icon Hi Pablo! Great question. I'm no architect but I did some research about it and it seems like the years of college depend on the level of mastery you want to receive in architecture (bachelors, masters..). If you want to specialize in environmental architecture you might want to go for a Master's. However, most people seem to go for about 5 years. The education costs also very depending on the university you go to so you can contact the admission's office and ask about their architect program. In order to become a licensed architect you also need to fulfill a 3 year internship and pass the ARE. If you want more information you can check out: https://study.com/education_needed_to_become_an_architect.html. I hope this helps and I wish you the best! Mireia

Christian’s Answer

Here in the US it is typically a 5+ year program depending on the level of degree you would like.

A Bachelor of Architecture would take 5 years, while going for your masters after that could take more than 3 years.

Christian recommends the following next steps:

Find a school that offers a Bachelors of Architecture
Explore their program options, they may have one that takes a longer time but fits more for your life.
