Richard’s Answer

Minorities are in high demand in all fields. Minorities have been historically underrepresented in broadcasting and media. This would be a good field of study, regardless of your ethnicity or race.

Kyle’s Answer

Thank you for the question Kamryn. There is great job demand for minorities in the field of broadcasting, just like in other fields. Most large employers keep hiring statistics on new applicants to ensure they are fairly hiring a well diversified multi cultural workforce. When you get your first job out of school, focus on being the best and striving for excellence in everything you do. For any minority, I would not at all be worried about not obtaining an awesome job or achieving your dreams in broadcasting. If you are great at what you do, that is what matters. Good Luck!

Charlie’s Answer

Minorities in many aspects are sought out by employers. That said you still have to have the skills to be the right person for the job. Always be educating yourself, work harder than everyone else, and develop a good reputation.

This isn't exactly going to answer your question, but it might be an excellent resource for you. I was vice president of the student chapter of the Association for Women in Sports Media at my university. You should look into joining it as their are many great benefits to being part of such a unique professional organization like this. For more information, visit awsmonline.org! Good luck!
