Is there a benefit of getting a mechanical engineering degree outside of getting a job?

Mechanical engineering is more of a life style and a way of thinking. Optimization in every aspect of your life would be your goal. Moreover, it would push you to sea further in life and predict the very far consequences of incident in your life. Lastly, you would be capable of fixing everything around the house!
