Hi Jenny! Volunteer activities are definitely a good thing to include on your college application. It's great if you can find a cause you really care about, and volunteer over a long period of time - even if it's just one hour or half an hour per week. It's always good to show that you're committed and follow through on things you care about.

Jenny, truthfully, some could argue that the volunteer opportunities could for more than the sports and clubs.
Unless you plan on working for tennis club no one will really care that you played tennis. Unless the hiring manager was also in a fraternity, it may not matter much.
I was a hiring manager for over 6 years. I heard a lot of people. I promoted a lot of people too. Neither of those factors contributed to much there either.
What is something that is looked at is leadership. How can you display leadership? I’d argue that volunteering does more for that.
Now sports has the advantage of being competitive. Universities like a competitive person. So if you can articulate how your volunteering made you competitive you’re totally fine.
Fraternities have networking and legacy as their main points. I would argue that volunteering has that pull.
At the end of the day, this all comes down to how you articulate it. However, I think you’re in a great place to get into a great school.
Remember though, you have to apply. That part is on you.
