Try to break up your homework and study load into smaller chunks. That makes it a lot easier to get through your work load, so you don't have to exercise as much discipline. Make sure that you resist the urge to skip on your mini-goals as they will back up and become less and less desirable to complete until you have the whole workload to do last minute.

Hi Daniela,
I think it really depends on your personality and workload. Some people like to take 1-2 h everyday to unwind and relax, while others take a full day off in the weekends. Some people prefer to give themselves a treat after completing a major task/goal etc. The key is you need to figure out what works best for you in order to finish your work on time and achieve your goals.
I agree with previous answers, a good way to start is to determine your priorities and choose the recreational activities wisely (i.e. choose the ones that really help you relax and have fun (e.g. spending time with family and friends, hobbies, sports, volunteer work) rather than trying to attend every single event). I always find it useful to have a weekly schedule with some flexibility to account for unforeseen events or in case something takes longer than expected.
Wishing you all the best!

Hi Daniela! Well really it matters about your course load; I would recommend to always take some free time for yourself at the end of the day or at least once a day of the week to relax and unwind. Usually personally for me, if I have assignments and exams I will work to complete those and balance that with things I would like to do, like reading or spending time with my family. It really matters about your immediate responsibilities if you have many things to do definitely complete those- keeping a planner helps with this aspect- then allow some free time for yourself!
Best of luck!

I think the key component is planning your schedule. you should have periods when you hang out with friends and family and have fun and periods when you totally focus on your books. give more time to studies and little time to having fun. be punctual and strict with your study time. When you get tired or saturated when studying take a break and have some little fun before continuing with your studies.

I agree with Yasemin and Jim. Make yourself a list of goals and priorities. Make sure that it is reasonable. Maybe a master list for the semester and a daily list. When you accomplish your established goal, treat yourself with recreation ( exercise, time with friends and family). Try hard not to procrastinate.
