Hi Michael, if you said your *only* career goal was to be a YouTuber, then I'd be more concerned. As long as you recognize that - like any career in the arts - only a small fraction of people break through to more than their immediate friends and family, it seems like a fine pursuit in addition to a more traditional career path. You will potentially build skills - in writing, performance, and promotion - that may help you find and excel in a "regular" job in marketing or sales or video production. Be authentic, and have fun!

YouTube is a good career option however you really need to work hard at not only producing content—Voice Quality, Production Quality, Presentation Quality so on but also the main issue is driving traffic from external and internal sources to your videos as well. The traffic part is the most difficult part to master on YouTube and it is not easy people spend lots of money via Google Ads to send initially traffic to their youtube channels and do backlink marketing like sharing their videos every where however you need to have a content marketing strategy for being successful .

You can make any profession your career goal and work towards it. It is generally easier to stay dedicated to an area that you have genuine interests in. That said, your interests might change and evolve over time. That's fine too. I recommend reading up on popular Youtubers and understand what it takes to become one, especially a successful one. Talk to people who are currently doing this and ask about their perspectives and advice. Learn how they become good and distinguish themselves from everyone else.

Hi Michael! I see a lot of people having this as a career goal, and I think it is wonderful. Providing entertainment and making people smile is a truly rewarding feeling. There is demand, but it is also a somewhat niche career, as it takes a lot of time, energy, creativity, and resources to get yourself out there. I would suggest trying it as a second job while putting half of your focus into a job that will earn you a secure income. Once you feel as though your channel is starting to take off, then put more and more focus into YouTube! Hope this helps!
