In regards to Social Work...when a person becomes a licensed social worker in his/her specific state, what goes into maintaining his/her license? Anything? and if yes, then what?
I'm currently investing in an education to receive a degree in Social Work. I feel like there would be something like that...a process to renew a license, because there's so many check and balances to go through anyway, whenever one is dealing with the well being of another. I would just like to know what exactly it is I'd be expecting to deal with in the time to come.
Thank you. #law #social-work #counseling

Check with your state licensing body for specific requirements. This site gives you info on each state: socialworklicensure.org. In Texas, for example, you'll have to renew your license every two years, meaning you'll have to send a check to the state. How much the fee is you'll have to check with your own state. All states have fees for licenses of all types, from drivers license to medical practice. State licensing bodies require also that you take continuing education (CE) courses so that you'll be up-to-date on issues and practices in your profession. In Texas, the requirement is 30 CE credits. I believe that most states also require that you maintain a certain level of liability insurance, but this is not expensive and not difficult to obtain. There are several companies that offer this coverage. Do a web search. Good luck.
