Innovation is the key. To start with, you would need to identify your strength - what field of engineering would best suite your skills. once you have identified that, you would need to pursue courses in that field, additionally a good (successful) engineer would not just learn stuff in class, but would also be able to implement the same in real life and also improve/innovate on the same. If you are really passionate about what you like, I would recommend working on improving your skill even before you take an engineering course. very good references are available at websites like wikipedia and howstuffworks

Hi Keerthana M. I see that you posted this question a little while ago so I hope my answer to you (or others who may read this response) is still helpful.

I offer two words....stay curious. Whether your goal is to become a good engineer, a good doctor, a good nurse, a good gamer, a good anything, in my opinion, that starts with always wanting to learn more about how to make what you are doing better. Similar to the previous answer that gives some good insight on how to be innovative, finding sustainable ways to solve problems helps an engineer become a good engineer. Being innovative requires being thoughtful and giving yourself time to think through what it would take to make things better, not just for a moment but for a prolonged period of time.

In my view, a good engineer is great listener. They have the capacity to hear what is being asked of them an to meet or even exceed that ask.

A good engineer is a problem solver and their range for problem solving is from the simple to the highly complex. A good engineer puts themselves in the path of something difficult in order to learn and grow in the area of problem solving.

Hope you find this response helpful. Best of luck to you!
