Hello, I am looking for a PhD program in computational architecture, can anyone recommend any institution? Preferably in US/Canada or Northern Europe or Japan.

Many thanks!

There isn't much info out there on computational architecture programs but this site https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-science-schools/computer-science-rankings has the rankings for the best Computer Science schools in the US.

Bryce’s Answer

I had to research what Computational Design is. I wasn't aware that software was becoming so pervasive in the field of physical design. Thanks for broadening my horizon.

After searching, there are limited doctoral programs in Computational Design in US colleges.
MIT - https://architecture.mit.edu/computation/program/overview
Carnegie Mellon - https://soa.cmu.edu/computational-design
Harvard - https://www.gsd.harvard.edu/doctoral-programs/doctor-of-philosophy/
Georgia Tech - https://arch.gatech.edu/computational-design

The site http://www.bestarchitecturemasters.com/ lists these programs in their "PhD Searcher"
MIT, listed above.
University College of London

I'm sure Europe has many programs but it is more difficult for me to search there. It's also difficult to sort through search portal results for this specific program versus plain "design" and other areas of architecture.
I find references to University of Lisbon.
Italy, Spain, and Germany are known for design so I'll bet there are numerous programs.

Bryce recommends the following next steps:

Another way to find out more is to talk to staffing recruiters for prominent architectural/design firms and ask what schools they hold in high regard.
