Pick PCM. If you know you are going to pursue sound engineering after 12th, you'll need good physics. Learn wave mechanics the best you can. Being a sound engineer will also require for you to be creative so I would insist that you take some time to be creative as well. Just buy a decent recorder if you can, if not, your phone's recorder is just fine. Record as much as you can. You can also go into Audio Programming done for Games and non-linear media primarily by opting for Computer Science along PCM. Hope this helps.

Charlie’s Answer

Quite a bit depends on what sector of sound engineering you're interested in pursuing. If music, definitely get some music education under your belt. For live sound, a good understanding of acoustics, electronics and physics would be helpful. If you want to work in broadcast, communications courses would be beneficial. No matter what, knowing some of all of these subjects plus a solid understanding of psychology will provide a solid foundation and advantage.
