Hi,
All the best for your 12th standard exam. Hope you do well.
To answer your question, I would suggest you take up Computer Science/IT engineering if you are passionate about programming. It will give you a good start to shape your career in the proper direction. You might also start working on simple codes on sites like hackerrank. It will help you understand your position among the other coders.
Hope this helps.

This is a late answer, by now you would be in your final year of college. But like you whom so ever have the same questions, I wish they could find it helpful.
1. Select the best college in computer science Major.
It is one of the important parts because a better college would give you better visibility and healthy competition to grow. A Computer Science and Engineering B.Tech/BE degree in any top tier colleges in your country would be great. A college degree from a well-established college will be a game-changer, even in the long run.
2. Assuming you joined college, if you want a career in Programming, you should learn how to do competitive coding.
Join free websites like HackerEarth, hackerRank, CodeChef and start taking their daily, weekly challenges. Learn one programming language properly, mostly it would be C++ or python.
If your college has coding club join them, else start a coding club with your friends and have a challenge among yourself. Also start this early. Also, get an internship in your 3rd year in any startups. Use Indeed effectively to find one.
3. Now decide between a higher studies or work in a company or start-up
