This site will tell you much about women in architecture and give you inspiration. Maybe, some day your name will appear in such an article.

Jessica’s Answer

Hey Amy,

During my previous work in architecture , I used to typically work around nine hours a day, but it depends on the employer/company. Some of the main tasks included:
- Drawing the design on AutoCAD;
- Reviewing the drawing with the Lead Architect;
- Meeting with clients and showcasing the work progress; sometimes on a weekly basis
- Meeting with the contractor and subcontractor to go through the design and review execution drawings. Negotiations and compromises might result from such meetings whereby the execution of some designs is more complex;
- Taking a look at samples of materials and colors;
- Going for site visits to check on installed items and overall progress of the construction; etc.

It depends on the phase of the project, but if things are happening in parallel, all above tasks might be occurring within one week!

It is important for an architect to be familiar with the phases of a design project as the tasks will differ depending on the phase:

Hope this helps!
