I need some opinions on online master's degree programs, specifically in the laboratory field.

Has anyone been a part of The George Washington University's online master's program in clinical laboratory sciences, or know anyone that has? I would really like to get some opinions on the quality of learning, especially online (the aspect that I am most worried about). If you have any advice or can connect me with someone that would know more, I would appreciate it SO much. Thank you! #online-school #masters-degree #GWU #laboratory-science #lab-science #MLS #CLS #lab-technology

Hi Abby,

I don't know anyone specifically who is in that particular master's program, but I know that GWU is a very good school. From what I know GWU provides a lot of discussion space on Zoom so that you are able to connect with your classmates. If you have any particular questions about the MLS masters program, it may help to contact the program itself or look for individuals in that program through LinkedIn or Instagram. Some may be more than willing to talk with you. If you want to know a little about GWU's online learning in general, I used to follow someone who has been doing GWU's online MPH/PA dual degree program. She spent the past year doing an online MPH, and you can DM her! I'm not sure how helpful it will be because she's not in the program that you're considering, but she may be able to give some advice about online learning. @MansithePA

Mary Jane’s Answer

I am familiar with a number of GWU's healthcare-related programs. GWU is a well-respected institution, but I cannot say if their online CLS program is a good fit for you or if an in-person program would be better for you. I agree with Lindsay's advice to look for alumni of the program on LinkedIn since they would have insights into how well structured the program is. You can also reach out to the program explaining you are a prospective student and ask if they have any upcoming info sessions or if they have any current students who are available to speak with you about their experiences. Most programs are very eager to share information with prospective students and they usually have class ambassadors who are happy to share their insights about their program. Good luck!
