Landon’s Answer

There can be many benefits to being an engineer that can be personally rewarding as well as beneficial to society. Engineers are the world’s problem solvers that invent, design, and develop new products, processes, and technologies that help to benefit society as a whole. There are many many different types of engineers and companies that hire them. Some engineer examples are Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Chemical, Computer, and Network to name a few. Being an engineer can provide a very good career financially, but can also be a very rewarding and fulfilling career because you are helping companies and their customers as well as the greater society solve problems and make things better. I myself have had a long career in the field of Telecommunication and Networking, and held roles at various companies as a network engineer, consultant, and solutions/enterprise architect.

Hi, I am not sure I understand your question correct. Do you mean what you can benefit if taking an engineering as your major in the college?
Engineering courses gives you very good training on a number subjects (depends on which engineering aspects you take as major), e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Information Technology, etc.
Having the knowledge of mentioned subjects, you can further develop skills like analysis, critical thinking, design, etc. to tackling problems. These skills are essential not only in engineering but also useful to use it in other industries.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Brayden’s Answer

Hello!

There are many benefits to being an engineer, not only for yourself but for other people as well. Engineering as a whole is a giant discipline of problem solving. In many engineering jobs there is a customer that has a problem or need and it is up to you as the engineer to help with their need. It might be that they need a car to be more energy efficient or a doctor who needs a more precise machine for surgery. As an engineer it is your job to design, build and test ways in which you can solve peoples problems. What I love about engineering is there is so much unknown. You might have this great idea, build a prototype and then find out that what you thought was going to work doesn't work at all. Then its back to the drawing board to try and different approach. Engineering challenges people to thing outside the box and to come up with cool ways to solve a problem. Many times its the most simple approaches that go on to solving the most complicated problems. And in the end you can end up coming up with a solution that can drastically change peoples lives. Whether thats build a machine that cleans water more effectively to design a car that's safer in car crashes.

Overall engineering is this unknown black box with tons of problems and its up to you as the engineer to solve them. Hope this helps!
