Hi Jazmyne,

Unfortunately, it would be extremely difficult to get a job in a public high school without a master's degree. Licensed teachers who have two years of teaching experience and a master's degree may become certified as school counselors if they complete the required course work in guidance and counseling. Or, individuals may become certified as school counselors after receiving a master's degree (in guidance and counseling) and serving a one-year full-time internship.

Fortunately, there is an 11% expected employment growth anticipated for this career so there is a very positive outlook for this industry for those who pursue a master's degree.

Hope that helps!
