It depends on where u want to start. You can start at a restaurant or go to school for culinary. But some things you can do at home to help you out is work on your knife skills always be learning something new know your mother sauces and work on presentation

Hi Tyson.
I would first start out in working in a professional kitchen, not a fast or quick service restaurant. If you can find a pro chef who is in your area and work and learn as much as you can from that chef. then after you have scrubbed the potatoes, cleaned the fryers, taken out the garbage you should decide if you want to become a chef.
I am not trying to make you go away from your dream, but, it is a very demanding job. you will work every weekend, 16-18 hour days. You will work every holiday including Christmas, your birthday, and most other holidays. You may or may not get breaks when you work as a chef, also may work 6 to 7 days a week depending on where you work.
