Do some research and find a school with a good Criminal Justice program. I would also suggest you get involved in community service projects offered by your city/place of worship or organizations like the Salvation Army. Law Enforcement is about service and communication with the citizens you will serve. The more experience you have going in, the better it will be.

Great question. Most police departments require one of the following 1) 60 college credits or 2) 4 yr college degree 3) military.
Most federal agencies require a 4 year degree.
There is no particular degree that is required or they are looking for but anything in law enforcement will always give you an advantage.
Like Michael said before, you will learn everything you need to know at the police academy. No need to practice shooting but you could always benefit from being in shape, so if you don't already, start a workout routine which will benefit both your mental and physical well being.
Best of luck to you.
Do a ride-along with your local police department to get a feel for the job.
