Find a good, local welding school that offers a 12-week course. You don't need a 2-year Associates degree from a community college to learn how to weld. Make sure they teach pipe welding as part of their curriculum, and inform them that you want to get extra attention in that area. Learn how to read pipe welding ISO drawings, as well as P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams). You will need to pass a 6G or 6GR qualification test, but even with that, nearly every company requires you to retest for each project. So, get good at passing that test! LOL
