I agree with the answer above! Also want to add that coding is a needed skill in many industries outside of Software Development as well. Every major company needs access to data in order to make important business decisions. Being able to build data dashboards, analyze the data trends, or at minimum, understanding how the data all comes together could potentially make you a key resource at any organization.
I appreciate you taking the time to answer this.

My kids were able to take a free course at a local college when they were in middle school during the summer on pc's and coding.
I would check with your school office and area colleges to see if they offer anything like that. It was super helpful!!

Learning how to code will help you even if you don't end up working in this field.
The main reason is that coding forces you to think properly. You need to order your thoughts properly and you need to be able to specify _exactly_ what you want, in full detail, when you code. In short, coding will force you to think about how you think and it will force you to be disciplined and logical about it. If you can apply those skills to other areas in your life, you'll see benefits when making decisions and when reasoning about things in general.
I believe that being able to think properly is generally considered to be a healthy thing :)
Also, the obvious benefit is that if you can code, you can work as a Software Developer too. This is an area that is in high demand, pays reasonably well, and you might even be able to Work from Home during a major Pandemic.
