Linda Ann’s Answer

Your undergrad degree program will outline a set of courses which will prepare you to take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT), typically at the conclusion of your junior year. Those courses will include biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology.

If accepted into medical school then you will complete a variety of courses and rotations through various medical specialties within a hospital for the first 2-4 years. An internship and then a residency in psychiatry must then be completed. You must pass a national licensing examination to practice any medical specialty including psychiatry.
