I think it's a great idea to be a mechanic anywhere you want to be whether it's a diesel mechanic or a gas mechanic. A lot of jobs that require the use of your hands or any hand crafted job pays well and it will always be in demand my advice to you is to look into how to fix hybrid cars or more fuel efficient cars too since energy keeps changing due to global warming. I think we will get to a point where diesel and gas cars will be fading out gradually and as it fades away over time you don't want to fade away with it but rather you need to get your hands on the new technology on the market so the you can learn to be a mechanic in that field too. Example is fixing, hybrid cars, electronic cars, hydrogen cars etc. Hope that answers your question.

Hi Landon. If you think pursuing a career as a mechanic is something that would bring you happiness and fulfillment, I would most definitely say it is a good idea! Keep in mind, there are many options to pursue under the mechanic umbrella. There are automotive mechanics, diesel mechanics, and industrial machinery mechanics just to name a few. Industrial Machinery Mechanic is a field that is currently in high demand according to Minnesota State University's CareerWise website - https://careerwise.minnstate.edu/careers/careerDetail?id=1&oc=499041#outlook
