Cassandra,
Great question, and I'm glad to hear you're interested in a Graphic Design role.
As an artist at heart, graphic and visual designers have the most fun in an organization. Depending on what type of company you work for, you'll find yourself doing a range of things such as:
- producing visual assets
- creating brand kits and guidelines for clients
- helping the marketing teams arrive at the right messaging for their web presence
- . . . the list goes on
Another way to look at it is, 'find the opportunities' and apply your visual design skills in any of the gaps.
As someone who has graphic design skills, you'll be very impactful in so many ways. Here are some other opportunities to consider:
- presentation template for all teams to use (keynote/powerpoint)
- help with your company's social media presence (banners, images, tweets, posts)
- swag! (imagine you design company swag, everyone loves swag)
- help revamp the company website
- . . . this list goes on, as well.
All in all, take your passions and see where you can contribute them to the greater good.
Wishing you the best of luck as you set out to explore the incredible influence you'll make in your career, using your graphic design skills.
👏
Don't just think of the company's needs, but also consider your passions
Look for opportunities around your company that need graphic design consistency
For high visibility, see if you can help w/ your company's social media branding
Have fun and take breaks
