According to https://work.chron.com/highest-paid-jobs-mechanical-maintenance-27006.html and http://www.becomecareer.com/highest-paying/mechanics being an Aircraft Mechanic is the highest paying specialty.
https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/career-development/how-to-become-an-aircraft-mechanic has details on how to become an Aircraft Mechanic. As you might imagine, it requires extensive training and FAA certifications to such a job and https://av-info.faa.gov/MaintenanceSchool.asp lists the three approved schools in MN.

Seems to be airline mechanics and other mechanics directed towards the industrial aspects. However, when trained in skilled in any specialty of mechanics your income could vary as it's typically a flat rate paying job. Meaning the more work you complete, the more pay.
