Hi Melissa! My first project as an art director was the rebranding of a restaurant/cafe which included a new logo, menu design, signage, placemats, social media template, and post guides. Let me know if that answers your question!

Hey, Melissa! My first job art directing was directing animation very similar to work I had done in the past. My familiarity with the way the project was put together and my understanding of the intentions of the work helped me guide the animator to a better outcome.
Often times art directors won't be directing new versions of exact work they've done in the past, but having some familiarity with what goes into making the work can be very helpful in offering suggestions to improve it. Most importantly, understanding what the work needs to accomplish in order to be successful will help the art director work with the artist/designer to get the project to where it needs to go.
