Hello Takiya. Climatologists study the atmosphere in an effort to gain information on the Earth's climate. They leverage data to address climate issues and make predictions on future weather conditions. With that said, according to nationalgeographic.org, climatologists have increasingly focused their research on changes in Earth's climate that have occurred since the industrial age. The Earth has been growing warmer with a strong correlation to the increase in human industry. Climatologists study global warming so they can better understand the impact of climate change caused by humans.

Hi Takiya,
According to environmentalscience.org, Climatology studies the Earth's weather patterns and systems and that cause them. Most climatologists are directing their efforts towards global warming, but also effects on landscape, climate effects of urbanism, making sense of big data, etc.
The following site has very good information if you'd like to check it out:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck!
