Jed’s Answer

Hello Jacob, what a great question! Per discussion with my colleague who is in the IT industry, he strongly recommended A+ certification. He said it is a really good place to start. It may take some time to complete it, but it must be worth it! Best of luck! :)

James’s Answer

I would recommend CompTIA A+ and Network+ as starting points. These will help with PC repair, if you decide to go beyond that, then start looking into Cisco certifications.

Mahendran’s Answer

You could acquire the abilities required to operate as a computer repair technician by completing the CompTIA A+ certification program.

CompTIA A+

The beginning of an IT profession is here. Foundational IT abilities are validated by the performance-based tests across a range of hardware and operating systems.

After completing the next stage, you can apply for the following certification.

CompTIA Network+

The key abilities required to competently design, setup, administer, and troubleshoot any wired and wireless devices are recognized by the Network+ certification.

Both of these qualifications will be beneficial, and they will boost one's career confidence.

Kevin’s Answer

I spent some time working in IT/PC Repair and I found that the study I did for the CompTIA A+ exam was suitable for the basic work that I was expected to perform. Network+ and Security+ would also be helpful in today's environment.

Maria’s Answer

IT is a great field! I'm glad you're interested. The CompTIA IT Fundamentals is a great entry level IT Certification. The CompTIA A+ certification will give you a knowledge of operating systems, hardware, basic networking and more. It's probably the best fit for IT/PC repair work, but you would also have the knowledge to take a role in desktop support or help desk.
