What is Architectural Engineering and is it a career to go in?

Is architectural engineering also known as building engineering? If I pick this field of study what kind of courses I will take?. #career #engineer #architectural

Yes, both names mean the same thing.


Architectural Engineering is very similar to Mechanical Engineering, in terms of coursework. Architectural Engineers will do some coursework more similar to what architects and structural engineers will do, as well. The courses fall into the following categories:


Structural/Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Electrical Engineering


However I've found that most curricula tend to lean more on the Mechanical Engineering portions. I don't have any actual data, but most AE's I know ended up either in Construction Management or as Mechanical Engineers and generally AE is considered interchangeable with a Mech E degree, even though AE's are much more specialized in buildings.But that's just my experience, our firm doesn't actually have anyone with an AE degree, since its not a common program. I did intern with an AE though, and many of his projects had him designing full buildings... however he now works as a Mechanical Engineer too.
