Joseph’s Answer
I would recommend UX or embedded software certifications. ADAS is a big field at this time; Almost all vehicle accidents are caused by human error, which can be avoided with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The role of ADAS is to prevent deaths and injuries by reducing the number of car accidents and the serious impact of those that cannot be avoided. Safety has become less design influenced and more of a type of surveillance.

Or do you want to work in a production facility that actually makes cars? Then within those question are many other questions. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with iCar. However, my father owned an auto service shop when I was younger and I’ve been around the industry practically half of my life. I know the Automotive Service Excellence, or ASE Certification, is one of the most recognized within the Automotive Service Industry. You should be able to study and train online to prepare for the test. The website also offers practice tests which would allow you to gauge your knowledge before taking the actual exam.

I think this answer is dependent on the area of the automotive industry in which you wish to work. In s product design and development role some certifications that may be helpful include but are not limited to Project Management (CAPM-Certified Associate in Project Management would be an introductory certification. Also, some background in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing would be helpful to be able to convey fits of components in assemblies. There are also certifications you can obtain to demonstrate competence in solid modeling, 2D drawing and finite element analysis. SolidWorks offers a variety of certifications related to these subjects.
