Connor’s Answer
Both are great degrees. They will teach you skills that blend together technology and business. It won't be a degree as technical as Computer Science where you would be more focused on software engineering or algorithms. During an MIS degree, you will learn the fundamentals of business (finance, accounting, marketing, etc.) along with the fundamentals of technology systems used by a corporation making it a great degree to get a job as a Business Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, IT Consultant, or many more.

Hi Amaan,
Agreed with Connor - both are great degrees if you have interest in the intersection between technology/business
I studied something similar (majored in business, minored in Informatics) and felt it gave me a good background to get into careers like Product Management, Project Management, IT Consulting, etc as mentioned above
You won't be an expert in either business or technology - but u will have a unique perspective on both

Hi Amaan,
Those are both great programs that you mentioned! I think it depends on where you want to go in your career, but even taking a degree won't lock you into a specific career. I have a bachelor degree in History and a masters degree in Library and Information science but the field I'm working in is business analysis and collaboration technology. I think it's important to do your research on the specific programs at the universities/colleges that offer them, reach out to the program office, find out what classes are available. If you can, speak to current students or graduates from the program, ask about their experience in the program, and how they felt the degree guided their career path.
Good luck!

I think both are similar - sort of more technical MBAs which are practical and useful now. I have an MBA and you get a lot of IT mixed into the curriculum. To decide, look at the specific courses offered and see if any jump out at you as particularly favorable. And of course it also depends on what your focus will be- do you know yet? Its okay if not. Good luck!
