In my experience, it is never too early to begin actively exploring what career may be best for you, but you don't need to feel pressured to make a final decision right away. If you’re still in high school, you can take steps to explore future careers and figure out what interests you and what may be a good fit. You can complete a summer internship in a field that interests you, take career interest tests to discover potential career paths that you may have never considered in the past, research the academic and professional requirements related to your current dream job(s), or get a part-time job to begin to develop your professional and/or people skills. If you are choosing to attend college and haven't decided on a career path when you start, that's okay! It is normal to start college by studying a variety of subjects before you decide firmly on a major or path to a certain field.

I would say anytime, seriously. It can be good if you start early around middle school/high school is mostly recommended, yet not everyone is ready. Most of us don't know that early what career we should proceed. I know I didn't until I started volunteering and trying different jobs. I wish I knew earlier when in return I would probably be more efficient and more professional at an early age. Even if we go for a career choice it might change along the way depending on our needs and choices. Try to find out what things you enjoy doing and search for job-related options. Maybe participate in them and see if it's what you imagined. When you do hands-on it gives you more of an insight into things. There are times you come to discover it's not what you imagined. Think of where you would like to live. what cities/countries provide the type of job you are in search of? Where do you see yourself living in 5-10 years? Do you see yourself doing that type of job for more than 10 years? There are so many questions you can work on meanwhile so you can understand better where or what you would like to do in your life. Ask others for their experiences and lifestyles. What do you do now in school that you truly enjoy? maybe being a coach? teaching? cook? art? some careers are also combined nowadays or people have more than one career. I wish you the best, hope this helps you.

Gabriela recommends the following next steps:

Make a list of career choices
What do you see yourself enjoying doing for more than 5 years?
Do you like to be independent? or more community service? or team leader?
Think of what cities offer your work area, where do you see yourself living?
Make sure you do good research in every way you can to find and make good choices.

Anytime! But I'd start considering it during your High School final years. It will be probably by then when you will have studied a wide variety of things big enough to have a good picture of different topics that might catch your attention! :)

Hi Albert!

You'll just KNOW when you're ready.

There is no set "time" that is right or wrong in when you decide to begin your journey.

Remember, this is all about YOU!

So try not to feel any pressure or think that you're not up to speed or behind.

You are doing exactly what you need, at this moment. Once you feel that pull, follow it & begin your journey.

Then start researching, writing notes, absorbing all you can.

Start looking into jobs that could pertain to your interest area & apply.

Maybe start volunteering, or looking at "free" virtual ways to volunteer, to get some experience & to see if it's actually something you're interested in.
---sometimes it "seems interesting/doable" but after you try it out you might be like, "noooo way."

***and that's OK!

This is YOUR path & your journey.
Enjoy it.
Learn all you can about yourself & what really inspires you.
There's no time constraints.
Like I said, you'll just "know" when it's time.

Good luck!
