Hello!
There are many things you can do to better your knowledge on child and development. You can attend speakers at your school, online, or in your community who are professional in child development. You can intern at programs working with children and first hand observe the development. You can join clubs for your department and exchange ideas and views on different topics. There are so many opportunities if you research volunteering, speakers, and other topics that’s relate.

1. Experience! Gain as much experience working with children as you can, either through a part time job, volunteering at clubs, schools, events, etc. Being around children and interacting with them is the best thing you can do so that when you learn something from a lecture or book, you can link that to a particular child or situation. It makes your learning so much richer.
2. Research Conscious Discipline! You can watch training videos on YouTube or take the course. Dr Becky Bailey is fantastic and she helps you gain insight into your own thoughts and emotions as well as children. It has made a significant difference in my work with special needs preschoolers.
