What does the work environment look like when working as a social worker in a hospital or school.?

I want to work with children so I am deciding if I want to be a social worker for a hospital or school. But I also wonder how a day to day would look like. I have talked with the few social workers I know but most of them work for the state rather then the field I want to go to though it might be the same I still want to know in what ways its different and what could be similar with work load, hours and more.

What jobs work with young children besides teaching in a school?

Though I would like to work with young kids the more I go to organizations and other non-profits most are about teaching in school. Though I feel it wouldn't be a bad job as I have had hands on experience with teaching kids at 1st grade and below. I would also like to have other options to experience and look into.

What is it like to work with special needs children and how do I deal with it?

I am interested in considering the idea of working with youth who have special needs. But I don't interact with children very often so I only really know how people around my age with special needs, such as autism, act. I'm aware that because they are children, their temper and behavioral decisions are going to be different, but I would like to know how I should react in this kind of situation. Also, since it is an emotionally and mentally demanding job, how do I manage my own frustrations and stress by myself when it feels like things are too much?

What careers and college majors would you consider if these were your interests?

Not sure if it's the same for other high school students but mine has us focus on self-awareness and college prep as part of curriculum outside of working with our guidance counselors. It's part of my english class. Something we have been working on is an essay about our career interests. I am a high school senior with several interests focused mainly on how our mind and body work. I like building relationships to understand and help others because empathy and compassion are my most important values. I enjoy meeting new people because it exposes me to different perspectives which I believe is important. I am very curious and enjoy research to understand people such as why they think a certain way and their motivations leading to my interest in psychology. I am an avid reader and enjoy forming relationships with the characters and storyline which also helps broaden my perspective and learn about people. I’d like to be able to encourage and help others understand themselves and build their self-confidence, particularly those who are misunderstood. I am also very detail and process-oriented meaning I like organizing, setting goals, and planning particularly for self-improvement. I’m good at science and math, which are my other favorite subjects because they allow me to solve problems requiring logic and order. Industries I am interested in are education, health care, and mental health

How do you develop a goal for yourself, and then push that goal to your main priority?

I describe my self as loving but hate to not get the same back. All in my 17 years of living it's still hard for me to believe if I work hard enough I can be something great in life. I got in my depression state and develop how I view things. I don't like it but it shows me who's actually here for me or not. This day that I'm typing this is I really just been by myself in this game called life. I hope I get through it and know how to deal with it and become the hard worker I always knew I could be. #child-development
