Brandy’s Answer

Hi Melony! Your strong points that you have listed look great! Always remember to use keywords that are relative to the position you are applying for. Also, you will want to write a short summary near the beginning of your resume that outlines/list your achievements and lets the employer know how long your history is. Sometimes, when you have a short history, you will want to show the time in months, so instead of saying 1 year, show the time as 12 months.

Use action verbs to describe your accomplishments and impact. Here is a link to help:

Being a reading buddy is not that out of the ordinary, but you came up with a system that help kids read, or your students gave you something. Try to describe how you improved something, or solved a problem.

For example, instead of reading buddy, something like improved student's reading ability by doing xyz.

Leonard’s Answer

Add any accomplishments or awards you have achieved. Also, if you have lead any projects, make sure to list them and your role in the success of those projects. Projects can be organizations, charities, or community contributions. It can also be helpful if you list items with which you had no previous experience and worked through it by yourself or with a team.

Alena’s Answer

Hi Melanie - I recommend using the STAR method for your resume (https://resumegenius.com/blog/resume-help/star-method-resume) and providing some examples of your experience. Also include your location/city, phone, email, community service, extra curricular activities, volunteer work, GPA, or any experience overcoming obstacles/problem solving/working with others.

Dylan’s Answer

Hi Melony,

I would reorganize your resume a bit and include the subjects the others have mentioned. You want to have the most important areas at the top.
Feel free to add in any clubs/sports or roles you have within the them. You want to paint the full picture of yourself!
