Hello Kendra,
Pediatrics is a rewarding career field that allows healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive healthcare services to infants, children, and adolescents. Working in a pediatric setting requires specialized knowledge of the development, care and treatment of young patients, as well as possessing the patience and compassion needed to work with young people.
No, I am not a pediatrician , but don’t see having any trouble getting into this career field. If you complete the necessary training and education requirements to become a licensed pediatrician then you can be fortunate to find several opportunities to practice in this field .
I hope this helps .Good luck.

Hi Kendra,
I am a Registered Nurse, you are asking a great question regarding your interest in pediatrics. In nursing, the academic program includes learning more about different patient groups, including pediatrics. As a student progresses through each academic course, pediatrics is one that also includes hands on training called clinical rotations (actually working with pediatric patients in a healthcare setting as a student along with the nursing instructor and nurse mentors called preceptors). This learning opportunity gives students a great foundation as well as an opportunity to find out more about going into a specialty like pediatrics. There are lots of great opportunities in healthcare and pediatrics certainly offers a bright future!
Best wishes to you!

Hi Kendra,
I'm not in the pediatric field, but my partner is. Getting into the field is probably not going to be any more difficult than going into most other medical specializations. It would actually be potentially slightly easier because there's generally fewer people interested in it. Those who go into pediatrics know that going into it often involves getting more training than would be required to perform similar care for adults, and also usually getting significantly less financial compensation vs performing similar care for adults. That's not to say it isn't a worthy career field (it definitely is, as the saying goes 'children are our future'), but that's something to keep in mind depending on what motivates you.
Cheers,
-Jason
