Ok this question has various answers. Once high school is through & SAT is above 21 (ish) you've got several hours of pre-requisites to complete before anything Veterinary starts! Those hours of pre-requisite classes can be finished in 2-4 yrs, depending on your determination. Then there is the interview for vet school...... and IT IS 💯 % TOUGH! If you pass the interview, then it's 2 years (w/ summer break) of academia & labs.
Then your big britches are ready to be put on & they don't always play nice!
After that 2nd summer break, it will be your last "vacation" of anything for another 2 years. Those years are spent in the clinics with the animals, mono-y-mono, while preparing for the dreaded "end all-be all" boards test at the end of your journey.
So if you're lucky & can successfully complete all that schooling 1 time around, you're looking at 8 years to complete. I've seen it take 11 years for a student to complete, so be sure it's your passion!
