To become a certified electrician for PG&E, you typically need to have completed a formal electrician training program and have a certain amount of experience working in the field.
One of the requirements for applying to be a Journeyman Electrician for PG&E is to have a California State Certification as a Journeyman Electrician, which in turn requires that you have completed an approved apprenticeship program, which typically consists of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and a minimum of 240 hours of related classroom instruction, pass an exam and meet other state-specific qualifications.
If you are a Job Corps student, it is possible that you may be able to apply to PG&E's electrical apprenticeship program directly, which is designed to provide on-the-job training to individuals looking to become certified electricians. This program is highly selective and you will have to meet some specific requirements and go through the application process.
It's worth noting that PG&E's requirements may change over time and it's always a good idea to check with them directly or with their recruiting department for the most current information.

Find an apprenticeship, it's consistent paid work and education. Apprenticeships are offered by many local cities, private companies/ institutions. You can also fast track a trade by joining the military and getting in under a desired trade. They will also offer free schooling and education while you are in as well as after you get out.
