Hi, Lucas!
This is a good question, and the previous answers have all been super helpful. I've found, especially with artistic careers, it's not about "official" degrees as much as it is about consistent practice. This CAN mean going to art school or payimg for taking art classes, but it can also mean self-teaching with art books/YouTube tutorials/etc.. You want to hone your artistic skills and build up a portfolio of work that you can show potential employers and clients. Many artists I know offer commissions, where clients can contact them directly to illustrate something specific, and this is how they break into doing are professionally. Another option is to start creating your own manga/comic to release online in order to build up recognition and exposure. This link has an extensive list of websites where you can self-publish: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PopularWebcomicSites
I would also look into related job options including being an animator, fashion designer, illustrator, graphic designer, or marketing.

My thoughts:
Hello, Lucas,
I am an artist and writer and just looked up what Manga means - a Japanese anime style. It looks pretty cool and fun to draw.
Creativity is a passion, and people are their best creative beings when they love what they do. Do you draw a lot? Do you practice your craft? Does it make you happy to draw? As a creative person in my 40s - I have drawn and painted in many different styles over my lifetime, and I change and learn a new part of my craft every week. It's an ongoing process and one that I love.
The hardships I've come up against are similar in all the creative fields. They are mostly fear-based and fears I put on myself. Am I good enough? How can I sell my art or make a career out of it? Will anyone like my art? It's self-sabotage. Your craft will get better, and you will become a master at your art if you practice. Good people skills are also a key to landing a great creative career - politeness and being helpful to others in the field -be that, and people will want you around and want to help you, too.
If you are hoping to make a creative career out of anime - then I suggest taking classes and eventually going to college for art. Find out which universities are the best for creative people in anime. Ask anime artists - you can find them on Instagram manga or mangaart - maybe follow a few and ask them questions. If you don't have access to Instagram, I am sure there are other sites out there with people in this field.
Practice your craft throughout high school. Practice every day. Even if you are tired, you have 5 minutes to draw something fun. If you have an art teacher, ask her/him to get anime drawing books into the school and ask for help with your craft. Check out online free classes, too. This will help strengthen your craft and make you more knowledgeable.
There are so many careers out there in creative anime fields - you will find yourself later in life wherever you put your focus now. So, if you love drawing, stay focused, and you will have a great career!
Go draw!

Angie's answer is excellent! I would simply like to add that if this is your passion (and by that, I mean, if you think about it all the time, get genuinely excited about it, AND most importantly, you never get tired learning more/ trying variations of your realm of drawing) then do not stop. Don't ever let anyone take you away from it. So few people ever figure out what their passion is. You know it already! Keep on. Expand your ability. Start networking with like-minded people. Hold strong to what you love and start to create a mental picture of where you are going to be in the near and distant future. What do you do every day? What is your career? What kind of company do you work for? How much do you earn? Hold that image in your mind and think about it as often as you can. You will reach it.
