International Basketball is big business. First I would ask if you have the skills to play competitively in America? Do you play in High School? Are you on a AAU Team in your area? Exposure is critical and while you may not have your eye on the NBA being able to get on a roster overseas is just as competitive. Are you working with a trainer? How many hours are you investing in your training and development in order to be in a position to make yourself competitive enough to be sought out by the scouts looking to fill roles on their teams. The overseas market is just as competitive as getting into college and pro's here in America so you have to be at the top of your game. When you play professionally THAT IS YOUR JOB! Your Visa is to work for the team that sponsors you. So you need to do more research on your plan. Between training and playing you do not have time for other employment when you are playing basketball professionally. Its just like playing for the NBA.
Get in touch with scouting services who recruit players to try out for international teams. They will let you know what the minimum requirements are. Know that you will be competing with recent college players and others with hoop dreams, so the field is very competitive. Get you body right. Eat right. Train and play. Play against great competition so that you are always getting better. Become a student of the game. Watch the best players who play your position to see what they do. Work on your shot. Improve your free throw percentage. Work on your ball handling. Become the absolute best player you can be. And then work harder.
With the G League and Prep Schools available to Basketball players you have many options beyond college to further your playing aspirations including the international choice. It takes effort, determination and commitment. Good Luck!

It all depends on where you are located and if your boss coach and. yourself can come up with a work agree ment or a work study type of agreement so you can follow your dreams and gain productive work experiences in the process be sure to inform them of a secondary plan like becoming a youth coach and giving back and also state that you want to make your country proud by playing in a tournament or something be sure to including your longterm goals and a secure future you want to build for yourself so I would check out youth centers your local YMCA or boys and girls club of America. Apply somewhere that will help you focus on your aspirations and a place that offers a bridge program would also be to your advantage

Honestly, it really depends on what you are looking to get out of it. The armed forces have many options to play basketball overseas depending on your skill level and whether you are selected for the team.
