A big value or quality that organizations look for when seeking Correctional Officer candidates is the ability to be firm, fair, and impartial. This entails the ability to speak to prisoners in a professional manner while displaying high a level of maturity. Being in a way, analytical, can also be a great quality to bring since policies must be followed to highest degree. I hope this helps you on your journey. Good luck!

Are you involved in any.organizations. have you tried to see if there are any junior rotc programs or junior Police officer programs in the area. Maybe visit a local branch of police in your area to see if they have programs where you get a chance to interact and follow them around. See if you could set up a visit and meet with an official of one of the branches so you could do a q&a session to find out all the information you need to know about the field of service you want to go in

Hi Aries,
The company would look at your education and work experience in that field. One thing they would look at is a legal background to become a correctional officer. They company you a re looking at may also accept a background in teaching, counseling and emergency responsiveness. A certain amount of years of experience is needed dependent on the companies requirements.
