It is hard to become a pilot?
I'm interested in becoming a pilot and am serious about it. I am wondering if it is a hard field to get into. And how often do you have to write reports?

Hi, Sophia,
Being a pilot sounds exciting. I had wanted to be one, but my color vision prevented my qualifying. Let's qualify 'being a pilot.' First, you can become a pilot in a short time if your intent is just to pilot a plane yourself and take a friend along. That is a private pilot license. There is a commercial license if you plan to carry paying passengers, and there is an instrument license for flying in inclement weather. Many jobs are out there that just require that the individual have a license. There are other employers who also want the individual to have a college degree, so that might be a factor, depending on where you seek employment. News in the past year has been that there is a major pilot shortage, so the prospects for a career are promising.
Hoping to assist you, I located some websites of pilot training info:
This site presents a good perspective on the process:
https://epicflightacademy.com/how-to-become-a-commercial-pilot/
This one offers free online video instruction on the steps toward being a pilot.
https://pilotinstitute.com/course/ultimate-pilot-guide/
Somewhat generic, this site presents sample possibilities towards being a pilot, but isn't very specific
https://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Pilot
And this is a URL for a Minnesota flight school, that even offers an introductory lesson for a modest fee to help interested persons get the feeling of piloting.
https://www.thunderbirdaviation.com/flight-training/
There may be some confusion in the websites, but my hope is they show you the possibilities. All the best to you.

When Top Gun was shown long time ago, many students male or female wanted to be like Tom Cruise. It's a very good movie for those students who wanted to see themselves flying. But in order to become a pilot there are certain things to consider ( 1) An applicant should have a perfect vision like 20/20 vision (2) financial resources because it's too costly to be a pilot especially during flying hours.
Try to interview a pilot and asks everything you want to know.
Try to apply for scholarship especially in the US Air Force and do your best!
Good luck and fly high!

Sophia,
David's answer was great but there are also possibilities in the military to be trained to fly. You will need to take the military's Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test (ASVAB) to see if you would qualify. Here is the link to a website to learn more about the test: https://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/asvab.
