Your Visa type will determine IF you are eligible to work in the US while here studying. Typically High School students are on strictly student Visa's which do not allow you to work. However you can look into internships that will get you experience but will not pay you. Since you did not mention your grade, I wanted to make sure you were aware of the restrictions. I have parented four International students from China, Costa Rica and Croatia while they were in HS and none of them worked during that time.
My daughter from Croatia did stay in the US for College and upon graduation stayed here for a year AFTER changing her Visa to enable her to work. Her biggest problem was finding a company that would pay the fees to sponsor her. She stayed for just a year before returning to her home country because she did not feel like her earning potential was what her peers were because of her Visa challenges.
The key here is doing the research to determine you career goals BEFORE you go off to College and look at the hiring requirements in that field for Internationals. Some fields have a higher skill gap and so getting sponsorship because of your field of study is easier than others. Be purposeful in your pursuit of a higher education so that you don't run into problems upon graduation because you were not aware of these issues BEFORE choosing your major.
Good Luck!
