What skills do businessmen require ?
I’m a junior in high school and I want to go into business. What skills do I need to build or have in order to succeed in a field like business management?

Business management requires hard and soft skills (I will list them below). Business acumen is a combination of these skills and experience. To know whether you even like the field of business management, I would suggest the following:
1. Join business clubs and organizations: Joining clubs and organizations related to business, such as Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), DECA, or Junior Achievement, can provide opportunities to develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
2. Take business-related courses: Many high schools offer courses in business, such as marketing, accounting, and entrepreneurship. Taking these courses can provide a foundation in business principles and skills.
3. Seek out internships or volunteer opportunities: Look for internships or volunteer opportunities with local businesses or non-profit organizations. This can provide hands-on experience in areas such as customer service, sales, or event planning.
4. Read business-related books and articles: Reading books and articles related to business, leadership, and entrepreneurship can provide valuable insights and knowledge.
5. Build a network: Building a network of mentors, peers, and professionals in the business community can provide opportunities for learning, feedback, and support.
6. Practice public speaking and communication: Effective communication is critical in business. Practice public speaking, participate in debates, and work on your writing skills.

I remember when I was junior in high school, it is motivating to hear from someone planning ahead and setting goals.
My first question: Are you currently taking any business classes that are being offered in your high school?
Second question: Have you connected with your counselor about possibility taking Community College courses during "summer 23" (business classes) The business courses will count towards your lower division degree.
Third question: With what you have learned in school, have you selected 10 Top businesses to work for?
You already have skills that you have built during your 3 years in high school, continue to grow those skills by going college or part-time jobs (during the summer).

Hello Kashish,
Being great at business requires a broad skill set that stretches across many different types of work. First, I would say that being personable is highly important. Most people enjoy working with people who are easy to get along with and that they feel they have some commonalities with. I would practice working with people from different walks in life - different ages, different backgrounds, different levels of experience in different areas. This helps you to be more well-rounded in your approach to creating common ground which is normally a first step in building lasting relationships.
It's also important to have excellent work ethic. You want to aim to be the type of person that people can depend on. When you say you're going to do something, make sure that you make it happen. Being great at business requires a level of predictability that that others need in forming strong partnerships with you. And in business, a large part of your job will be connected to the work of others, so it's incredibly important to show them that they can depend on you as you also depend on them.
I also believe that being deeply knowledgeable about your work is a great skill you'll need. Part of success is working hard, but the other part is knowing what you're doing and feeling connected the reasons why it's being done. You should never stop studying your craft - technology and changing environments will always add to the complexity of work, and knowing that, you'll likely need to adapt to what's happening. It's easier to do so when you've become a student of your work and know what other companies in the industry are doing.
My last piece of advice is closely tied to my previous statement, you should be able and willing to adapt. Many of us struggle with change, as sometimes it can be overwhelming when we're there's uncertainty. However, being the first to try out a new system, quickly getting behind new initiatives and sharing new and more efficient ways to get the job done are business traits that are valuable to any organization.
I hope I provided you with some good insight into the business world and wish you the best of luck in the future!

There is no one singular answer to this question, but instead some general skills that I would recommend focusing on.
1 - Soft skills and networking are hugely important and critical in business management and transferrable from industry to industry. Your ability to talk to your direct reports, peers, or leadership will lead you far in business and can be a real differentiator. Discovering your own personal brand, and marketing that personal brand as someone who can reach across the organization and speak with clarity, authority, and empathy, will take you far!
2 - In terms of hard skills, a focus on STEM related subjects will prepare you well for the present and future of business. There are some roles that will focus more on creative, and some that will focus almost entirely on analytics. However, being able to at least understand it and speak to it is critical in many or most business roles, especially at a management level! Again - business management means you will work with and interact with many different people in different roles across the organization. This is where your soft skills and hard skills can come together!
3 - Always be open to learning new skills. This will help bring value to you as a business manager as roles evolve and opportunities present themselves to you!

Have some Human resources knowledge
Technology (basic computer skills, Excel etc.)
Depending on how you go about getting your business knowledge, you may require to get one or two statistic classes.

- some knowledge of analyzing data, whether in reports or spreadsheets or charts. Financial reports are the heartbeat of business.
- negotiating skills. you will occasionally need to work with others and negotiating that relationship is important
- leadership is vital to ensure people pay attention to your direction and support you.
- communication skills. Whether written or oral, you need to be sure that others understand what you are telling them and in helping them to support your recommendations
- emotional awareness. That knowledge of you and how you are perceived, plus your ability to see others in how they relate within the business. That includes the ability to promote and demote, to hire and to fire, to encourage and to redirect, to share and to stand apart.

I'm gonna keep it short and simple, but make no mistake about it the more you learn and the more you are willing to grow the better your will be at anything you do.
1.Know your business( The more you know the better you can overcome obstacles.)
2.Know the basics of business management.(If you know the basics it helps when you start to lead your business)
3.Have the positive attitude.(A positive attitude is infectious and so is a negative one, your team or employees will be a reflection of you)
4.Manage your time efficiently. ( If you don't manage this your tasks or things to do will pile up fast)
5.Know how to manage people. (People work for people they like, customers and business partners do business with people they like, learn to relate to everyone.)
