Great question Dominick!

My dad was a welder for many years. He worked as a welder building a power plant. One of the best things you can do as a welder is practice, practice, practice. You may have to start working on a small project in order to work your way up. My dad said that anytime your boss or mentor gives you tips/tricks really take their advice to heart so you can improve your welding.

Welding is very prevalent in construction and there are always new buildings, ships, etc. being built around the world. There are many types of welding such as gas, resistance, and arc welding. Some newer forms of welding are solid state and electron/laser welding.

My dad liked this job very much since it was always something new everyday to work on. You are usually out in the elements welding so if you like the outdoors then welding may be a great job for you. Also, you can take pride in knowing you help build something that will last many many years.

Hope this helps and good luck on the journey!

Welding is a great choice and a very well paying job. I always encourage young adults to try it out. There’s an actual science behind it and formal studying in welding. When I was welding, I was proof of my work because I help build many buildings in my city, bridges, trains, etc. it’s a promising career choice and there is always work! We are short for welders! We need young adults to join the profession and help build our infrastructure. Welding opens doors to new opportunities like engineering and welding inspection. You get to travel and see the world if you want. Once you have honed the skill and are a master at it, you will be sought after by many companies! Who knows maybe you might even start your own welding company! Good luck and always be the best at what you step into!
