What should I do to motivate myself for college?

What should I do to be happy in college besides doing the work that they give. I believe student life is more important than the population of college itself.

Thank you comment icon I have just started college. Why ? I wanted a purpose for my life, new beginnings, new opportunities, and new friends. And out of boredom. I was so isolated, that the bottom of a bottle began to be my answer. I chose to become a student every day and give myself something valuable back. svetlana safronova

1-I will say get a part time job ,while your are in college, in a fast food place . maybe just couple of hours a day and don't quit for at least a month or 2 .
that will definitely make you motivated to stay and finish college.
2-you can also build connections with friends who are ahead of you in college. having friends who graduated and landed jobs after college will also get you motivated.

Motivating yourself for college can be challenging, especially when faced with the demands of coursework, exams, and other responsibilities. Here are some tips to help you stay motivated and focused:

1. Set clear goals: Set clear, achievable goals for yourself and make a plan to reach them. Having specific goals to work towards can help you stay motivated and focused.

2. Find your passion: Pursue subjects and activities that you are passionate about. When you enjoy what you are learning and doing, it can make it easier to stay motivated and engaged.

3. Stay organized: Stay organized by keeping a schedule, making to-do lists, and setting reminders. Being organized can help you stay on top of your work and reduce stress.

4. Stay connected: Stay connected with classmates, professors, and other members of the college community. Building connections can help you feel more engaged and motivated.

5. Take breaks: Take breaks when you need them. Taking short breaks can help you recharge and stay focused.

6. Celebrate your successes: Celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Recognizing your achievements can help you stay motivated and build confidence.

7. Seek support: Seek support from family, friends, or a counselor if you are feeling overwhelmed or struggling to stay motivated. Sometimes talking to someone can help you gain perspective and feel more motivated.

Vicente’s Answer

In college I prioritized studying over everything else. I would say to you learn from my mistake. It's important to have a balance. After all college is also about self development and exploration. Get involved in thing that interest you outside of your major. It's a good way to make friends and find out what your other interests might be. You never know you might find that the major you thought you wanted isn't it. In short college is about learning, and growing as a person. The best friends you'll have and keep will be from your college years.

Hi Xiomara! Great question. Staying motivated in college is tough, it is a brand new world and you are responsible for getting your assignments completed and staying on top of work throughout the semester. One of my favorite ways to stay motivated is to make a daily checklist of things I need to do. I make sure to include tasks for school and work as well as add fun things in, like calling a friend, going for a walk with my dog, or taking a break! If you want to get more out of college you can set goals like having a conversation with one new person per week or trying one new club a semester.

This is a great question. I have discovered that your internal self-talk is so important related your intentions to stay motivated. You have the greatest influence on your behavior so does your self-talk limit or support your intentions? It's a bit of phycology but important to understand. Motivation is a short-term feeling – meaning it come and goes. Your commitment to the process will drive success related to your actions.

Hey Xiomara!
It's been awhile since I was in college but I still remember those days and still wish I did more! Make sure to have a good school/life balance! Join not only academic clubs but also social clubs to get the best experience at college and meet new people outside of your major! If you don't live on campus, it is a little harder to do campus clubs but time management is something that if you master in college, it will help you with the rest of your life! Plan accordingly and set expectations of yourself of what you can and can't do. You'll one day look back at your college days like I do and remember amazing memories of that time.

1. If you don't have one, perhaps get a vision board of why you are want to be college in the first place, what is your long term career / family life goal?

2. Live life at college as if you are already in your ideal job, that means try to fit in all the key imprtant things (to you) in life that you would be doing.

3. Community work/volunteering is very helpful to have perspective in life.

4. Staying connected to your core values/faith whatever grounds you is important to remaining true to yourself & it will help with remaining focused & not getting side tracked.

5. Being thankful everyday, you have made it to college & have the opportunity to do something great with your life. A gratitude journal or simply giving thanks twice a day can keep you motivated. On days when things are not going well, try & remember, whatever the situation is that it will pass, often people bail out when they were so close to the reward. Everyone has good & bad days no matter what their social media status indicates all or most of the time.

TRAVIS’s Answer

I would start completing as much of the basic ed/general ed course prior to arriving at college. Enroll into any dual credit courses in high school and take as many CLEP tests as possible in order to get as many credits prior to setting foot on a college campus. Work hard in college, you will be tested throughout your life and college will be a great place to find out what you are made of. Enroll is school activities like intramural sports or other clubs too.

Segu’s Answer

Motivating yourself for college can be challenging, especially if you are not sure what your goals are or if you find the coursework to be overwhelming. Here are some tips that may help you:

Define your goals: Start by identifying what you hope to achieve in college. Are you there to get a degree, learn new skills, or explore new subjects? Having clear goals can help you stay motivated and focused.

Break it down: College can be overwhelming, but breaking down your coursework and assignments into smaller, more manageable tasks can make it easier to handle. Make a to-do list or a schedule to help you stay on track.

Get involved: Participating in extracurricular activities or joining a club can help you feel more connected to your college community and provide opportunities for personal growth and development.

Find a study group or a mentor: Studying with others or seeking guidance from a mentor can help you stay motivated and accountable. They can also offer support and guidance when you need it.

Reward yourself: Celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may be. Treating yourself to something you enjoy after completing a task or achieving a goal can be a great way to stay motivated and focused.

Remember that college can be challenging, but it is also an exciting time of growth and discovery. By setting goals, breaking down tasks, getting involved, seeking guidance, and rewarding yourself, you can stay motivated and make the most of your college experience.

Rebecca’s Answer

Thank you for your question. This is a good question. I believe this is a questions related to your time management. If you manage time properly. Then, you will be motivated and can engage on the college activities. Yon can enjoy the college life as well.
Firstly you need to identify a time management tool that suits yourself, e.g. Phone Calendar, Outlook, etc.
Below are my suggestions :
1. Put down the time you need to attend classes, tutorials. etc.
2. Assign some time for doing your assignment, project and revisions everyday.
3. Make sure you have sufficient time to take a rest.
4. You can see that time that you can participate extracurricular activities, classmates, friends, gathering, etc.
5. Have some time for doing exercise.
This is to ensure you have study / life balance. You don't need to completely fill up your schedule. Keep some 'Me' time to relax and reflection.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Try to learn as much as possible. Not only about your degree but also about any other things you like. However demanding studies are, university is the time of your life where you have most free time. Once you start working you will get more and more responsibilities. Many people at a more advanced age just can't do many things because they don't have time for it.

College is also meant for growth and development inside and outside of classrooms. Be sure to network at school, organizations and with professors. Do not spend your time only studying. Connecting with other students and professors will keep you engaged and motivated.

Mindy’s Answer

Being happy is very important during school and outside of school. I would personally say that a school, life balance would make a huge difference. Anything that you may have done or were interested in before school, you should continue to do. Being happy is definitely motivation. People sometimes end up resenting things or people that make them feel as though they missed out on certain things. Live life, grow but still be YOU and do all the things you love to do or have always wanted to do. But remember, it's all about balance.
