There are actually a lot carpentry internships available in the United States. It depends a lot on your location and how much time you are willing to commute.

Here is the website for the Carpentry Union. They have a local chapter in your city. Sign up for the apprenticeship program and you will work and go to school at the same time. Good luck https://www.carpenters.org/
